Darnestown is about twenty miles northwest of Washington, DC, along the Potomac river, in Montgomery County, Maryland. Since Darnestown is not incorporated its boundaries are not statutory, although they are defined and communicated to county officials. The 2000 Census showed over 6,000 residents in an area of some 12 square miles centered approximately at the intersection of Darnestown Rd. (Rt. 28) and Seneca Rd. (Rt. 112).
